Eating

For the most part, Sarah is a fairly neat eater. On most occasions, she keeps her food on her plate, puts it directly in her mouth, and eats what is in front of her. However there are certain occasions where this practice fails and Sarah can get a little messy with food. Typically it involves spaghetti sauce. I thought I would share a few of Sarah's eating moments.


Sarah is getting better with utensils. She likes most foods but doesn't seem too interested in meats. She loves blueberries, chocolate graham crackers, and, of course, spaghetti.

Visitors in Richmond

This weekend my friend Ellen and her boyfriend Aaron came to visit from DC. Ellen and I went to grad school together. It is nice to have friends from out of town visit, particularly when Greg is working. Since the weather was nice, we took Brody for a walk at the park near the river. Sarah had fun running on the path and hanging out on my shoulders. Sarah missed her nap that day, so she was very tired that night after all the excitement of having visitors.

The next day, we went to my friend Violet's house. Sarah had a wonderful time playing with her husband and even cried when he left the room. They have three grandchildren and I guess have this child friendly "vibe". Sarah settled into playing with them quickly and wasn't too interested in leaving.

Happy New Year

Sarah and I spent this Christmas with the Brown side of the family in New York/Canada. Unfortunately, Greg was working Christmas eve, day and the rest of the week, so he had to stay home. My brother lives in Rochester, New York and my cousin, Mindy, lives just outside of Toronto. My other cousin, Jeff, also was visiting Mindy, so it was a great Brown reunion. Mindy has a three year old boy, Remy, and an 8 week old girl, Coralie. Jeff has a three year old girl, Vrinda, and a boy Sarah's age, Rohan. My brother and his wife, Melissa, are also expecting in May, so soon we will have another Brown to add to the group.

Sarah had a great Christmas (although she missed her dad). She received many wonderful books, clothes, and toys. It was her first white Christmas-too bad she won't remember it. I doubt we'll have many in Richmond.

New Year's came and went. Greg had just finished up his week of work and fell asleep by 7:30pm. I went to bed early, expecting an early wake up call from Sarah. I was right. Sarah woke up at 2:30. Since she hadn't spent much time with Greg over the last week, she only wanted me at that hour, even though Greg was already awake (he's still a night owl on his week off-probably because he falls asleep by 8pm most nights). While she is getting a little better about sleeping through the night (about 40% of the time she makes it through the night), it's still hard to get up in the middle of the night.
