So I finally decided to set up a space where friends and family can check-in from time-to-time on how things are going in our lives. With the recent addition of Sarah, we actually have something to share aside from our boring daily lives. My goal is to try to update twice a month, but we'll see how this goes.......
Our most recent news is that Sarah is now six months old. It's hard to imagine so much time has passed since that day. I decided to mark the occasion by actually taking a picture! I have to point out that she is in her chic "haute couture" outfit that my cousin sent from France (Sarah is already on her way to being a fashion diva). She celebrated her big day by visiting my friend, Ellen, in DC. We went to the DC zoo where Sarah particularly liked the elephant and panda bear exhibits, but decided that she would like to go back when she would actually know what she was looking at (I don't think she really cares if she goes to DC or goes for a walk around the block at this age).
I am just happy that with her 6 month birthday, she decided to start sleeping through the night again-something we had not seen since Thanksgiving. I only hope this 6 day streak continues for weeks to come. Without even knowing why, my coworkers have already commented that I was much happier at work. I didn't think I was that unpleasant in my sleep deprived state!
In other news...the Richmond weather has finally turned cold as with everywhere else on the east coast. We had freezing rain last night, which prompted delayed school openings for everyone. The sad part is that I realized that snow days no longer exist for me now that modern technology allows us to work from home with access to all of our resources at work. Greg continues to work his overnight shift (10pm-8am) every other week and just started back to work tonight (armed with two mountain dews at his side). With a 24-hour store, he will never get to enjoy a snow day either.
Sarah has started attending a daycare closer to the house, which is much more convenient. This allows me to pick her up the week Greg works, which wasn't possible with the old sitter's hours. Although we miss the nice homey environment she provided, it saves 1 hour and 20 minutes a day in added driving time and allows Greg to get more rest during the day so he can make it through the long nights. I patiently await the lovely maladies she will bring home with the added exposure to more kids--particularly now that she thinks the only way to explore an object is through her mouth.
