Relaxing on Sunday

On Sunday mornings, Greg likes to read the paper after coming home from work. As you can tell from the last post, Sarah has an interest in paper, so she likes to help her dad read the paper.

Greg criticizes that this website isn't really the Kang family site but more the Sarah site. In an effort to make it more well rounded, I'll fill you in on other happenings....

Our porch is about 85% there. Last week, my parents helped us put the trim and ceiling panels up. Next week the electricians come in to hook up the lighting. We still have to do a final coat of paint, install the stair rail, put lattice work around the bottom, and get it screened (the mosquitoes are terrible here). After that we tackle the landscaping. I will work on before and after photos.

I am finally back (slowly) running. I went to physical therapy as a last attempt to heal my runner's knee injury from over training for the Marine Corps marathon three years ago. I tried several times in the past to heal it through physical therapy, steroid patches, and cold laser therapy, but continued to have the same problem. While I am only up to a mile on a run/walk routine, my goal is to run a 10k. I have come to the conclusion that my marathon days are over---since it seems my body doesn't want to cooperate given my injury record.

How do I read this thing?

Today my friend Shelley (old boss from nanny days) sent Sarah a beautiful quilt. Another item she sent was a paper she published about performance management in government, something of interest for me considering what I do. (I have to credit Shelley for leading me into the public policy area.) Anyway, Sarah was less interested in the quilt and preferred looking at the paper. While it could be a sign that she wants to follow in her mom or aunt Shelley's footsteps, my guess is that she just liked touching the paper. But you never know...maybe you are looking at a future congresswoman or president?? (Her screams are earily similar to Howard Dean's) Don't worry, I'll tell her to remember the "little" people in her life :)

How do you entertain a child when you have housework?

Put her on your back or give her a teething biscuit. This week my parents are in town to help us finish our porch. Saturday my mom and I primed and painted the ceiling panels. We needed to entertain Sarah while doing it and these were our two strategies. More photos to come of the porch this week!

This is a good place for a nap...

This weekend we headed to Fayetteville, NC to visit Greg's parents. We were still recovering from our random illnessess, so it was great to go where extra hands were available. We were able to get some well needed rest, some wonderful home cooked food, and Sarah got to hang out with her grandparents. A great trip for all!
